3D Scanning Service
Professional 3D scanning from a Frome, Somerset studio — producing clean, fabrication-ready files for design, restoration and replication.
If you have a physical object and need it captured as an accurate digital model, BluPrints3D provides structured-light 3D scanning with in-house processing — and optional 3D printing when a physical replica is required.
Most clients begin with a simple question: “Can you scan this — and what can I do with the file?”
This page shows the most common outcomes and the best next step depending on your project.

What 3D Scanning Does
3D scanning captures the exact geometry of a real object and converts it into a digital model. That model can then be cleaned, repaired, scaled, edited, or prepared for fabrication.
| Common Goal | Typical Outcome |
|---|---|
| Replicate something | 3D print a replica or create CNC-ready geometry |
| Repair or improve a part | Clean model suitable for redesign / fit checking |
| Scale artwork | Digital model scaled up/down for editions or casting |
| Archive something valuable | Safe digital record for documentation and future reproduction |

Studio-Based & On-Site 3D Scanning
Most objects are scanned within the studio, where lighting, positioning and calibration can be carefully controlled to ensure clean geometry and consistent surface capture.
Where items cannot be safely transported — due to size, installation or fragility — on-site scanning can be arranged.
Larger pieces or complex environments are assessed individually, with scale, access and processing time factored into scope.
Based in Frome , BluPrints3D supports clients across Somerset and the wider South West region.
Request a Quote
The fastest way to quote is a clear photo, approximate size, material type, and what you want the scan for (replica, CNC, CAD work, archive, etc.).
All enquiries receive a response within 24 hours.
