3D Scanning for Heritage, Museums & Restoration

Preserving historic artefacts, ornaments and architectural details with safe, high-resolution 3D scanning.

Many museum and heritage objects are fragile, irreplaceable or too valuable to handle directly. This 3D scanning service gives you a precise, contact-free digital record — ideal for archiving, research, conservation or reproduction.

Perfect for ancient ornaments, archaeological finds, architectural details, memorials, plaques, delicate artefacts and culturally significant items.

Ideal for Museums, Archives & Heritage Collections

3D scanning provides a safe, non-contact way to document and preserve culturally important objects that cannot be handled, transported or frequently touched.

    Common uses include:

Digitising museum objects for long-term preservation – create a permanent digital record of fragile artefacts.
Capturing ancient ornaments, decorative fragments & heritage details – safely reproduce their exact shape and fine craftsmanship.
Recording the condition of sensitive or damaged items – track wear, deterioration or restoration progress.
Producing replicas for exhibitions, displays or education – create handling copies or accurate reproductions without risking the original.
Documenting archaeological finds and excavation pieces – capture discoveries precisely before further analysis or conservation.

How the Heritage & Museum Scanning Process Works

Structured-light scanning uses only light — no contact, no sprays, no markers and no risk to the original object.

This method is extremely gentle and trusted for scanning fragile heritage items because nothing physical is applied to the surface. The light simply “maps” the shape, and the software reconstructs all the measurements into a complete 3D mesh. The result is a highly accurate digital model that can be rotated, studied, archived or reproduced without handling the original again.

          1. Share Your Object Details
Send photos, measurements and the intended use of the scan. I’ll confirm suitability and provide a clear quote.
          2. Scanning (In-Studio or On-Site)
Most small or medium objects can be scanned in-studio. Larger, fixed or fragile items can be scanned on-site when required, with controlled lighting to ensure accurate capture.
          3. High-Resolution 3D Capture
The scanner records the object from many viewpoints, capturing hard-to-reach areas, fine surface detail, optional colour texture, and depth/curvature information.
          4. Cleanup & Digital Preparation
The scan is aligned, merged and refined into a clean, watertight digital model. Minor gaps are filled, noise removed, and the model exported in formats such as STL, OBJ or PLY.
          5. File Delivery
Files are delivered via secure download link, ready for archiving, research, restoration or display.
          6. Optional 3D Prints & Replicas
Full-size or scaled replicas, handling copies for education, mould-ready prints or restoration components can be produced if required.
